Level 1, 2 & 3 Hamilton Warplane Heritage Museum Trip

Cadets need to be at the Barrie Armoury for 15:30 on Saturday, April 6th. The bus will leave at 16:00. Expected return time is 13:30 on Sunday the 7th. Cadets who have not handed in their permission form NEED to fill it out and bring it on Saturday. If you do not have a permission form you will not be allowed on the bus. There will only be a small snack at the museum Saturday night so cadets should eat before or bring dinner on the bus. Cadets will now be eating lunch at the museum on Sunday so there is no need to bring money anymore. There will be a gift shop for those interested. The museum can not accommodate allergies. If cadets have dietary restrictions it is advised to bring food. Dress will be appropriate civilian attire. See kit list and permission form below.

Spring Tagging

Tagging is our main source of fundraising.  Any cadet who is under 16 must have a parent or guardian tag with them.  We are asking that all cadets tag a minimum of 3 shifts.  Tagging pays for all the fun and exciting things we do.  We are planning an out of province trip next year so this tagging is important!

Tree Top Trekking

Area Directed Activity- This activity covers needed PO's for the year so attendance is highly encouraged.   Please take this time to sign up.  April 20 2024 at Horseshoe resort.  Timings to be confirmed but it will be an all-day activity.

Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence

We are asking that cadets submit their portfolios to Maj Reid by April 15 2024

Selection Criteria

The main objective in awarding the RCL Cadet Medal of Excellence is to emphasize the citizenship aspects of the cadet program. To be eligible for consideration, a cadet must meet the following conditions:

  1. completed three years of training

  2. met all requirements of the squadron's annual mandatory training and participated in 75% of the optional training programs;

  3. participated in a minimum of three community service events, (outside cadets in 2023/2024) in addition to those supported by the cadet unit;

  4. be regarded by peers and superiors as exemplifying the model cadet;

  5. Enhance the cadet squadron through: i) co-operation with peers and subordinates; ii) comradeship;

                                 i.            promoting goodwill and morale within the squadron;

                               ii.            aiding in the development of group identity and cohesiveness;

                             iii.            supporting and assisting fellow unit members; and

                             iv.            his/her involvement in the local community

The applicant must submit a portfolio outlining their volunteer work in the community along with a narrative of 300 – 500 words which supports why they feel they are eligible and why they meet the selection criteria above.
