Royal Canadian Air Cadets participate in a variety of fun and challenging activities. There is something for everyone – no matter what their personal interests may be. The outdoor enthusiast will appreciate learning survival skills for flight crew. The athlete will appreciate physical education and recreation, including a variety of sporting activities like biathlon and Olympic-style marksmanship. The artists will find their niche in the music program.

The curious will appreciate the hands-on activities such as building model aircraft. The scholarly will appreciate an introduction to the various tools and technologies linked to aviation. The dreamers will appreciate the evolution of technology and the advancements of the aerospace era, including the importance of Canadian participation.

  • Where can I find information about how to take care of my uniform?
    102 Squadron has dozens of great videos about the proper care of uniforms on their Youtube channel. Simply search "102 squadron" on Youtube and you will find great content ranging from uniforms and drill, to effective speaking and cooking!
  • How old do you have to be to join the Air Cadet Program?
    The Air Cadet Program is available for ages 12-18.
  • How can I join the Air Cadet program?
    In order to join 102 Barrie Silver Fox Squadron Air Cadets you can come to the Barrie Armoury, located at 37 Parkside Dr in Barrie, on a Monday night at 18:00 (6pm). In order to register, new cadets will need to bring their health card and proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. If you do not live in the Barrie area and would like to find an Air Cadet squadron near you, you can visit the cadet.ca website.
  • What Do Air Cadets Do?
    Cadets meet every week to learn about various topics including aviation, aerospace engineering, history, citizenship, drills and ceremonies and many more. Additionally cadets have the opportunity to take part in various local parades and events as well as extracurricular activities such as marksmanship, biathlon, drill, effective speaking and debate and several others. Air cadets specifically have an emphasis on aviation related activities and have the opportunity to go gliding and flying.
  • What summer opportunities can air cadets take part in?
    During the summer cadets have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of summer training courses including drill, marksmanship, physical fitness, aviation, aerospace and international exchanges. Additionally, cadets aged 16 and 17 or older respectively are eligible to attend flight school to receive their glider or power pilots license.
