Cadet Program Update

Please see the details below sent on behalf of LCol B. Leonard, CO RCSU Central.

Key points in CANCDTGEN 014/20:

· ALL unit activities that would require a physical presence outside of one’s residence has been cancelled until 30 April 2020, and that date will be reviewed and possibly extended;

· ALL incoming and outgoing international activities, training, exchanges, rec trips, etc. are cancelled until after 31 August 2020; and

· ALL in-house (IH) COATS/CIC courses scheduled until 30 June except those required for summer CTC training ie adventure specialty course including AI, ETL, FWCI, MWCI & MBI, pilot courses and RSO LB courses (therefore all IH BOTC, OTC, AETC, LETC, IOTC and TOC) are now postponed until after 1 July 2020.

As of today, summer CTC training is still a go, but obviously that could change at any time and we will let you know as soon as we are directed to do so.

We have reached out to Explorica more info to follow.

Squadron Coin Competition/Online Classes

Our very first squadron wide competition is a coin designing challenge. Our squadron is well in need of a squadron coin and it is up to you to design! Submissions must have a front and back of the coin design that includes our squadron name and number as well as any images/designs that represent cadets and our squadron!

Don’t worry if you are not a good artist just write in your ideas and label your designs! If you are deemed the winner we can work together to make the final designs.

SUBMISSIONS must be emailed to mj.pre@live.ca by FRIDAY APRIL 3. I will be working with the commanding team and seniors to determine a winner.

The winner will receive one of the very first coins ever made and will be recognized for designing 102’s very own squadron coin!!

Attached are some example coins.

Cadets and Parents,

We will be starting to have online programming on Monday nights from 6-9pm. Cadets will be able to join their level officers and senior cadets during these times for online discussions and classes. This system can be used with laptops, cell phones, tablets and even good old fashion landlines if needed.

There is an expectation for all cadets to participate. Even though our activities are on hold, we still have a program that can challenge and motivate our youth to take initiative and think outside the box.

This system also lets us visually see one another to maintain social distances.

The team is working hard to get this rolling and we look forward to seeing you all online Monday! Please check back for updates and instructions.
