📢 Monday November 19th

102 Squadron will be bowling on December 9th! Join us at Bowlerama (Bayfield Mall) from 15:30-18:00. Food and drink will be provided in the form of Pop and Pizza. This event is free for all cadets to attend! Please sign up here! This signup closes today (14 Nov)! If you sign up and become unable to attend, please send an email to 102seniors@gmail.com.


There will be a drill team practice/tryout this Saturday (Nov 17) from 0800-1000 at the Armoury. This practice is only open to cadets who have been attending previous practices/tryouts.


There will be no range practice this weekend.


The dress for Monday, November 19th will be C2. Poppies are not to be worn.


OPC Tickets are to be returned as soon as possible! The first flight to return all of their OPC tickets will be awarded a prize by the SSC!


The mandatory fall FTX will take place Nov 30 – Dec 02. This weekend includes survival training, map and compass, and other fun activities! It is part of mandatory level training. Kit list and permission slips are available here. Permission slips are due NLT (no later than) 26 Nov. Submit permission slips to FSgt Horner. 📢 Monday November 12th

All cadets who signed up for the Veterans Luncheon this Thursday (8 Nov), make sure to arrive at the Mapleview Community Church for 1100. We expect to finish between 1430-1500. The dress is C1.


There will be a drill team practice this Friday (Nov 9) from 1800-2100 at the Armoury. The top 10 team spots will be confirmed soon. 2ICs and Instructors are still being evaluated and those positions, along with the 5 remaining spots and spares, will be announced in the coming weeks.


102 is hosting the annual tri-service Remembrance Vigil at the Cenotaph from 2000 hrs 10 Nov 18 – 0800 hrs 11 Nov 18; followed by the Remembrance Day parade. As such, 102 participants (Level 5 cadets) are required to attend the Armoury for 1900 hrs in civilian attire with full dress uniform with issued parka and gloves to assist in the set-up and intake of cadets. Supper must be eaten prior. Snacks are permitted and breakfast is provided. Please check your email for more details and your assigned shifts.


On Sunday, November 11th, 102 cadets will be participating in the annual Remembrance Day parade. Cadets participate in this event to honour the more than 2,300,000 Canadians who have served throughout our nation’s history and the more than 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice. If you are unable to attend this parade, you must email to be excused.

Cadets are to arrive at the Armoury no later than 0930hrs (9:30AM). The dress is C1. Cadets must also wear their issued parka (gloves are recommended – you may wear layers under your uniform – dress for the weather!). Cadets who have not been issued a uniform should wear the usual black pants, white shirt, black tie, coat, toque, and mitts. All cadets must wear a poppy on their uniform as shown in this diagram. Cadets not wearing a uniform must still wear a poppy on their jacket. If you have any questions regarding this parade, please email 102seniors@gmail.com.


Monday, November 12th, 102 cadets will be completing the Cadet Fitness Assessment (CFA). Cadets are to wear appropriate sports/PT attire and bring a water bottle.


OPC Tickets are available to cadets level 2+. If you have not received yours, please see a member of the SSC. OPC tickets are to be sold and the stubs and money returned ASAP. New OPC tickets are also available for any cadet who wishes to sell more.

📢 Monday November 5th

There will be a band practice Sunday from 1800-2000hrs at the Armoury. Bring marching band instruments if you have them.


The dress for Monday, November 5th will be C2. All cadets should now be wearing poppies. Click here to see how to properly wear a poppy on your uniform.

Nov 5, there will be a uniform maintenance class 3rd period. Please bring any and all questions you may have on how to wear and maintain your uniform! Feel free to bring sewing kits and boot polishing kits to repair/shine before Remembrance Day!

Barrie Colts tickets will be distributed this Monday (5 Nov). New orders are no longer being accepted.


Annual Validation Forms – PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGNATURE REQUIRED. Validation forms are overdue. Cadets will be unable to attend squadron activities until validation forms have been completed.


Level 5s, please check this schedule to see when your Merit Review Board interview is. You must be in uniform (C1), ready for your interview at least 5 minutes before the time listed. Whoever is next in line may wait in the room just outside the boardroom.


The Drill Team practice for this weekend has been cancelled. Our next practice will be on November 9th. The top 10 team spots will be confirmed soon. 2ICs and Instructors are still being evaluated and those positions, along with the 5 remaining spots and spares, will be announced in the coming weeks.


Level 5s, please keep an eye on your email throughout the next 2 weeks. Information regarding the remembrance day vigil (10 Nov) and the level 5 workshop (17-18 Nov) will be sent out soon.

📢 Monday October 29th

There will be a drill team practice on 26th October from 1800-2100hrs at the Armoury. This practice is open to those who have attended previous practices. Team spots will be confirmed soon. 2ICs and Instructors are still being evaluated. There will also be practices on 3rd  Nov (to be confirmed) and 9th Nov, see the calendar for details.


MANDATORY PSRY Training this Saturday (27 Oct) from 1100-1500. All cadets that have joined 102 squadron since last January (January 2018) must attend this training in order to pass their level. The dress for this event is comfortable civilian clothing. Lunch will be provided but cadets are encouraged to bring a drink and snacks. It is imperative that cadets arrive at the Armoury before 1100.


Please help our veterans by volunteering to sell poppies this Sunday (28 Oct)! This event can be counted for volunteer hours. Please meet at Royal Canadian Legion in full uniform (C1) and a coat for whichever shift(s) you signed up for. Lunch is provided if doing both morning and afternoon shift. Parents are required to drive cadets to and from the Legion and their selling location. The Morning shift is from 1030-1330 and the afternoon shift is from 1330-1630.


The dress for Monday, October 29th will be Civilian/Halloween attire! Make sure to take this time to get your uniform freshened up! Check out our uniform guide!


All cadets applying for National Courses are reminded that the deadline to have all paperwork in is 29 October. Click here to view the handbook.

102 is selling tickets to the Barrie Colts hockey game on 10th November. The Colts will be playing the Ottawa 67’s at 7:30pm. The Colts have given us a discount rate of $21.00 for tickets with $6.00 from each ticket being donated to 102 Squadron. Ticket orders (using this form) are due this Monday (29 Oct) and tickets will be distributed on November 5th. The top 3 cadets to sell the most tickets will be members of the flag party and will stand out on the ice during the national anthem.

A 102 cadet has lost one of their most treasured posessions: their parka! Please check inside your cadet parka (coat/jacket) to make sure that it is, in fact, yours. If you find that you have someone else’s parka, please bring it to a FSgt.

PSRY This Weekend
