📢Monday May 27th

Drill Team: There is a drill practice this Friday, May 24th from 1800-2100hrs at the Armoury. Also, please make sure you are checking your email for more upcoming practice dates. If you have not already paid for your sweater please do so ASAP, the deadline has already passed! Check your email for more instructions.


The Amazing Race: On May 25th 102 Squadron will be hosting The Amazing Race with the Sea and Army cadet corps. The signup will close on May 23rd at 2200hrs. Sign up Here! This amazing Tri-Service event is based off the TV Show “The Amazing Race.” You will be placed with groups of cadets in a race to complete various activities around the City of Barrie. This event requires teamwork, trust and leadership. Click Here for the Kit List!


The dress for Monday, 27th May is C2. CATO 55-04 Annex A – Numbered Order Dress.


Edenvale Aerodrome: 102 Squadron will be visiting Edenvale Aerodrome on June 1st to view vintage aircraft and learn about aerodrome operations! For more information, and to sign up, click here!


D-Day Parade: On June 2nd, 102 Squadron will participate in a parade to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy. This parade marks a historic occasion, and we are honoured to participate in the ceremony at the request of the Barrie Legion. Make sure you save this date! The signup is coming soon, so stay tuned for further announcements.


Awards Presentation: 102 Squadron will be hosting the annual awards presentation on June 3rd. Doors open at 1730hrs at The Georgian Theater (Georgian College Barrie Campus “C” Building). Sign Up Here! Parent(s) you are welcome to attend. This is a mandatory event! The presentation starts at 1800hrs with a reception to follow in the Georgian Dining Room (E100). This fun-filled night is to celebrate the amazing achievements that cadets have accomplished at our squadron! Parking will be paid for, therefore a license plate will be required when signing up.


Refillable Water Bottles: All cadets should bring a refillable water bottle to the armoury every parade night. Water coolers are available for refills. Disposable water bottles are available for purchase at the canteen.

📢Monday May 20th

There is No Mandatory Training on Monday, May 20th. Make sure you polish your boots and work on your uniform! Annual is just around the corner!


Supply Appointments: Supply will be open on May 20th from 1800-2100. You MUST bring your uniform and sign up for an appointment. The appointments are approximately 20 minutes each. Sign Up Here!

📢Monday May 13th

Spring FTX: The Spring FTX is coming up this weekend, May 10-12th. The signup is closed. If you haven’t brought in a permission form yet, you MUST bring one on Friday. You MUST bring your health card! Click Here to see if you still have to bring a permission form! If you have dietary restrictions other then vegetarian, please bring your own food for this weekend. Please arrive by NLT then 1730 on Friday. We are estimated to return around 1500 on Sunday.

All level 3s and 4s must attend this FTX to complete mandatory training. You must speak with your level officer if you are unable to attend.

The weather promises to be spring/summer-like, all that you will require beyond the standard kit (a list is provided on the signup page) is sleeping stuff (sleeping bag or blankets), and a pillow…we will provide the food, accommodations, training and FUN!!! For More Information Click Here!

📢Monday May 5th

Drill Team: There will be a practice this Friday (3rd May) from 1800-2000hrs at the Armoury.  Please bring your wedge with you! Please ensure your uniform is cleaned, ironed, polished, thread and lint-free, etc. and that your hair is cut and face shaven if needed. Remember we are competing at ACAD on Saturday. Please be fully dressed in C2 when you arrive at the Armoury on Saturday for ACAD and make sure you don’t forget anything!


ACAD: Air Cadet Activity Day (ACAD) will be held at CFB Borden on May 4th! For ACAD, we head to CFB Borden to participate in fun and exciting activities hosted by CFSATE. We will also meet and compete against cadets from other squadrons in our region! 102 Squadron has won the award for top spirit for many years, and we intend to continue this tradition! This is an opportunity not to be missed by any! For more information on ACAD, talk to your senior cadets! Sign up here!

Please eat breakfast before coming to the Armoury. We highly recommend you bring snacks and a refillable water bottle with you! Lunch will be provided. Cadets are also allowed to bring a change of clothes for the sports portion of the events. Please arrive at the armoury no later than 0700hrs with your health card! We should arrive back by 1800hrs however, updates will be posted on Facebook and Remind throughout the day.


Band: This Sunday (5th May) from 0700-1400hrs band will be participating in the Battle of the Atlantic Parade with Tri-Service Band. This is event is only for any cadets that will not be attending gliding. The Sea Cadet Boathouse is located at 21-23 Simcoe St Barrie, ON L4N 6T4.


Gliding: Our first spring gliding day will be on Sunday, May 5th. The list of cadets selected to go gliding has been published. Click here to see if your name is on it!

We advise all cadets to bring a book, cards, etc. to entertain themselves while they are waiting for their turn to glide. There is usually an opportunity to buy snacks (similar to the canteen at the Armoury), but this is not guaranteed. You must bring your health card with you.

Busses will leave the Armoury at 0700hrs, and we estimate a return time of 1645hrs. Lunch will be provided. See OCdt Malichen-Reid with any questions.


The dress for Monday, 6th May is Sports Attire. This Monday is our second Cadet Fitness Assessment of this training year. Each cadet must complete at least one fitness assessment per year to pass their level. Questions? Please reach out to your flight commander.

📢Monday April 29th

Spring FTX: The Spring FTX is coming up May 10-12th. Click Here to Signup! Signup deadline is 24th April – that’s tomorrow (no exceptions). All cadets must attend at least one FTX per year, but it’s better to come on more than one! Permission forms should be handed-in to WO2 Van Namen.

Band: There will be a band practice this Sunday (28 April) from 1800 – 2100hrs at the Armoury. This is a very important practice as we are quickly approaching our annual ceremonial review!


Debate Team: We will be meeting at the Armoury on Saturday 27th April at 1500hrs. Please remember to pack your full uniform and polish your boots! Parents, please watch for Facebook pots indicating approximate return time on Sunday. Please contact CV Erb with any questions.


Summer Training: Summer Training forms MUST be brought in (signed) to indicate whether or not you are accepting your offer. You must submit your forms no later than this Monday (29th April).

Level 1s: Will be learning how to care for all parts of their uniform by rotating through stations on Monday, 29th April. If you have your own boot polish kit and would like to use it, please bring it on Monday. There will be extra polish and cloths available as well.


Legion Medal of Excellence: Cadets in level 3 and above wishing to apply for the Legion Medal must submit a portfolio to OCdt Malichen-Reid showing they meet the criteria outlined by the Royal Canadian Legion. This portfolio is due NLT 29 April 2019.


Citizenship Award: All cadets wishing to be considered for the citizenship award should submit a one-page document outlining community involvement to Capt Reid, A. NLT 30 April 2019.


ACAD: Air Cadet Activity Day (ACAD) will be held at CFB Borden on May 4th! For ACAD, we head to CFB Borden to participate in fun and exciting activities hosted by CFSATE. We will also meet and compete against cadets from other squadrons in our region! 102 Squadron has won the award for top spirit for many years, and we intend to continue this tradition!
