URGENT – Due to the CUPE work to rule action, Romeo Dallaire is not available tonight. We will be parading at the Barrie Armoury.

Change in Location for Parade Nights: Effective Immediately, 102 Squadron will be using Roméo-Dallaire Secondary School (736 Essa Rd, Barrie, ON L4N 9E9) as another location for our Monday Parade Nights. Cadets are to use the front doors and arrive NLT 1815hrs. Cadets are to be picked up for 2100hrs.

A Note About Announcements: All announcements will be posted in both official languages, English and French. French announcements will be posted on Thursdays.

Drill Team: There is a drill practice from 1800-2000hrs this Friday at the armoury, any cadets still interested in trying out for drill team are welcome to come out this Friday!

Band:  There is no band practice this weekend.

Barrie Subaru OPC Tickets: We will be contacting cadets that are attending the Europe Trip for selling OPC Tickets this Saturday at Barrie Subaru (2454 Doral Dr, Innisfil, ON L9S 0A3), any cadet attending the Europe trip is required to participate in squadron fundraising. There will be two shifts on Saturday, Morning: 0930–1300hrs and Afternoon: 1300-1630hrs. Thank you for all the cadet that volunteered for this event, we have all of our required spots filled.

Gliding: Come flying this weekend at CFB Borden on Sunday, 29 Sep, from 0730 – 1700hrs (7:30 am to 5 pm). This is an all-day event and will be filled with other activities throughout the day. All cadets are welcome to attend, including recruits and there are still spots available. We are looking at a trip to the base museum, walk around the airpark and sports while participating in gliding. We will be providing lunch for all cadets as well. Be prepared for the weather, as the airfield can be windy and cold this time of year and no uniforms. Cadets must wear running shoes to go flying, no sandals allowed.  Don’t forget to sign up and we’ll see you on Sunday at the Barrie Armoury for a quick bus ride to CFB Borden. Sign Up Here!

Annual Validation Forms: Returning cadets, if you have not already had your parent or guardian sign your annual validation form. You must sign them ASAP. Here is a list of outstanding cadets. Your parents need to come into Roméo-Dallaire this week to sign your forms.

New cadets! 102 Squadron welcomes new cadets during our regular parade nights. Please come visit us at Roméo-Dallaire (736 Essa Rd, Barrie, ON L4N 9E9) at 6:15 on Monday night. In order to enroll, you must provide a valid health card and birth certificate or Canadian permanent resident card or passport.

The dress for Monday, September 16th will be C3-B (Same as last week “C2-B” please see the note about the new dress instructions bellow) This is summer dress. Any new cadets without a uniform are to wear a collared white shirt, black pants, black shoes and a black tie.

New Cadet Dress Instructions: New dress instructions were just released, we now have a combined single cadet dress instruction. This replaces CATO 55-04 for all cadet dress regulations. This new dress instruction, as well as updates to our squadron existing dress information, will be available on our squadron website by September 26, 2019. Please check back soon. These new instructions have been provided to the WO2 to ensure that we are adhering to our dress policies. For more questions please speak with your flight commanders.

Fall FTX: Our first FTX is fast approaching and is planning to be exciting.  We will be heading back to Camp Marygrove on 4-6 Oct. For our new recruits, we are going camping and learning about how to survive in the wilderness. The focus of this FTX will be our mandatory survival training but will ensure that we have fun while doing it. Get ready to head to the great outdoors and learn how to live off the land. Wolf’s Den: On Sunday, October 13th, come on out to the Wolf’s Den (7560 8th Line, Utopia, ON L0M 1T0) to have some fun while learning how to shoot an arrow or catch a fish in the fish pond. Never tried, well now is a perfect time too. We are even putting on a BBQ for all the cadets that participate. Sign Up Here! Signups will be open until October 6th. For fishing enthusiasts, please bring your own fishing rod and hooks, we will provide the worms. Bows and arrows will be provided for archery. If you have your own personal equipment, feel free to bring it.

Tagging: Tagging is fast approaching, which is our biggest fundraising event, and we need all hands to help us break our record from the Spring. Tagging will be taking place from October 18-20. The more that we raise, the more we get to do, as our fundraising goes towards all the events and activities we do in the squadron. 100% of all proceeds go to you (cadets). So, make sure you book the dates and. Signup and more information is to come!

Cadet Summer Training (CTC): A new year means new summer training opportunities, it’s time to start thinking about what you want to do next summer.  For National Courses, there is a new process that has just been released as Natl CJCR Sp Gp Instruction 7003-1-13, found in the file repository. Information for all other regional courses will be out soon, but start asking other cadets that have been on summer training to tell you all about their course.

“Save the Date” The Annual 102 Christmas Dinner – Dec. 16th. 2019:

Planning is already underway for our annual Christmas Celebration. FSgt. Wahab is looking for any level 3 cadets and higher who are interested in working with this years organizing committee. Please see Fsgt. Wahab or CV Clements for more information.
