Senior Volunteer Opportunities: For all levels fives requiring volunteer hours to complete their training requirements, here are a number of virtual and in-person ideas and resources:
- Writing letters to seniors
- Talking to seniors on the phone
- Help your community! You can do yard work, gardening, chop wood for an elder neighbour, pick up groceries for someone in need. The possibilities are endless of ways you can support family, friends and your community.
- Make a video in support of front-line workers. Take a moment to thank them for keeping us safe. You can also make a video to cheer up someone who is in isolation alone.
- Prepare some resources to be used by the younger members of your youth group to be sent home to parents online to help them during isolation.
- Prepare some meal parcels, go shopping or walk the dog of people who are affected by coronavirus.
- Skype talk / face time / WhatsApp call to the elderly neighbour to keep them from being isolated.
- Maintain Facebook or Instagram page / websites for a local group or charity.
102 Cookbook: The 102 Squadron cookbook is now available for orders! You can order books by going to this website:https://102squadron.square.site/ . If you have filled out the previous order form, you will still need to fill out this week’s order form for your order to be processed. If you have any questions, you can send them to FCpl Anderson at this email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
102 Squadron Podcast: Have you ever thought of doing public speaking, broadcasting or working with computers? If so then you should consider joining the 102 Squadron podcast team! At this time we are looking for another cadet to join the show as a co-host. If you are interested in applying please send an email to FCpl Anderson at this email address: email@example.com.
Drill: Interested in improving drill movements you have just learned? Are you feeling a little rusty during online training? Check out our Squadron youtube or click here for instructional videos! A new video will be uploaded every week. In addition, there are meetings Friday nights on the level 4 Zoom link at 1830 (6:30 PM) to guide you and provide feedback.
Duke of Edinburgh Award: Calling All Cadets Age 14 and Up! 102 Squadron is nearing its 1 ½ year mark with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Program. We currently have cadets enrolled in both the Bronze and Silver section.
What is the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global program with the goal of challenging, empowering and recognizing young people between the ages of 14 and 24. The Award challenges young Canadians to develop skills and tools to improve themselves and their communities by encouraging them to go beyond their comfort zone.
- You will be assigned a group leader who will help you develop your goals and help you find what you need to achieve them.
- Right now you can join for FREE as part of the Cadets (Central Ontario Area) Duke of Edinburgh Award Project!
- Be part of the Award Ceremony in November 2021.
- Information Session Via Zoom to be announced shortly. For further information send OCdt Mena an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Among Us Club: This new club will run on the first Friday of each month from 6:00-7:30. To attend each month’s meeting, you will be required to fill this form, which also provides the option to be a moderator and to input your preferred game settings.
Become a Pen Pal with a Senior: There is an opportunity for you to be paired with a senior resident at Allandale Station Retirement Residence for the purpose of writing one letter (email) each month. You could write to your pen pal telling them about yourself, about how you have been doing during the month in school and at home. You could talk about hobbies and interests you may have or even talk about cadets. These are just a couple of examples. These residents are very lonely and isolated due to Covid so any communication would be welcome.
If you would be interested in this program or would like further information please let Sgt Mena know at email@example.com.
